Richard Phillips

Short Biography

Richard is the chef / patron of 'Thackeray's' in Tunbridge Wells, one of the best restaurants in Kent with a Michelin star and 3 AA rosettes. He is also chef / patron of the fine dining restaurant 'Hengist' in Aylesford and a Brasserie set in the Chapel Down Vineyard in Tenterden. His most recent venture is the outside catering company, 'Perfect Catering'.

Richard started his award-winning food career under the wing of Albert and Michel Roux and was awarded third prize in the National Young Chef of the Year. He then went on to work with Marco Pierre White, overseeing the kitchens of The Oak Room (3 stars) and The Mirabelle (1 star) in London.  

Richard makes regular appearances on TV and can be seen on BBC's Ready Steady Cook, Step Up To The Plate, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is as well as ITV's Daily Cooks Challenge, UKTV Food's Great Food Live, and SKY1's Taste.
